January tends to be a time of research and development for me. I’ve finished all of the custom orders that come around the holiday season, and I can spend some time thinking about what new art dolls I want to bring to life.
It seems this holiday season is dinosaur season, because I’ve had quite a few custom commissions for them. I’m thrilled to see people so excited for my little prehistoric murderbirds. I always enjoy custom color commissions because my customers almost always come up with such interesting color combinations or patterns. They’re a lot of fun. So here are some photos of the fluffy theropod babies I got to make for the 2018 holiday season.
I’ll be exhibiting at Super MegaFest 2018 in Framingham, MA this weekend (October 13th and 14th), and I’ve made up an extensive stock of dragons and pipe foxes to bring with me to the show. But since it’s Halloween season, I wanted to make up a few creatures that creep some people out to being as well. And so, for SnakeTober 2018, I’ve crafted a half-dozen new snakes to charm their way into peoples’ hearts…
Baby Dragons are some of the first creatures I sketched out when I was planning what I wanted to offer in my shop. I’ve always loved the idea of a little dragon friend that can crouch on your shoulder or cling to your arm. I’ve been slowly improving my creatures as I go, and I’m proud to say this batch of mischief makers are my best Baby Dragons yet!
I’m so excited to be attending Super Megafest in October, and I’ve been hard at work making creatures to stock my booth. Pipe Fox Spirits are a particular favorite among folks who stop by my booth, so I always try to make sure I have as many as I can. This time I have a wide variety of these mischievous little friends, and hopefully I can find homes for most of them. Here are just a few of the Pipe Fox Spirits I’ll be bringing with me to Super Megafest!
As soon as I premiered the wingless Eastern Dragons earlier this year, I started getting requests from customers to paint up that dragon pattern to look like Haku from Spirited Away. I actually experimented with using Haku’s colors to simply make a white and green Eastern Dragon, but it just didn’t look right to me and I was sure it wouldn’t fulfill peoples’ expectations. And so, rather than just making a “palette swap” version of the existing Eastern Dragon in Haku’s colors, I chose to create an all-new River Spirit Dragon instead!
I’ve had a lot of commissions this summer, and I’m so excited to have gotten my first custom color Baby T-rex. I’m really fond of these little guys, and this particular commissioner wanted one that was extremely eye catching rainbow!
My favorite movie and book of all-time are both Jurassic Park, so I was pretty pumped for the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom this summer. I knew there would be many raptor aficionados who would be falling in love with the sole remaining member of Chris Pratt’s raptor squad once again after the movie hit, so I planned on making some raptors inspired by Blue in time for the holidays. But to my surprise, one big Blue fan couldn’t …Continue reading →
Even though I depleted the majority of my dragons, eastern dragons and pipe foxes at Anime Boston 2018 in April, I haven’t had the opportunity to fully replenish my Etsy shop yet because I’ve been fulfilling a lot of custom commissions that customers requested at the event and through my shop. And one of the customs that I’m most proud of is this new Asian-styled dragon model, inspired by the Temeraire series of novels!
Despite Anime Boston being over, I’ve been super busy forging creatures! I had quite a few people at the con ask for custom creatures and other commissions, so I’ve been working hard to make these folks’ wishes into fluffy creature companions. Like this custom Microraptor art doll! This is a character that has a lot of meaning to their creator, and I was so excited to get to bring them to life! This has to be one of the most …Continue reading →
